Shape of Earth
Lord Vishnu has taken 10 avtaars to save the earth. Varaha Avtar is third one. In Varaha Avtar is depicted as wild boar lifting earth which is drowing in water by asura hirnayaksha, but the interesting fact is the shape of Earth. 1000’s of years ago Hindu or Indians knew that the Earth was round.
Also in Sanskrit Geography Earth synonymous is Bhugol Vigyanam. Bhu means Earth & Gol means Round. This reconfirms that ancient Indians knew that the Earth was round.

In Hindi Earth synonymous is Jagat which means “Jiski Gati Hai” (a thing in motion), it proves that Indians knew that the earth was moving and not the sun.

*एक युग सहस्त्र योजन दूरी पर स्थित भानु अर्थात सूर्य को मीठा फल समझ के खा लिया था|*

1 Thousand = 1000
1 Yojan = 8 Miles
Now let’s Calculate, 1 Era * 1000 * 8
12000 x 1000 x 8 Miles= 96,000,000 Miles
1 Mile = 1.6 Kilometres
therefore
96000000 * 1.6 = 153600000 Kilometres.
